A brand-new Xbox Game Pass title has just been revealed, and it’s one strategy fans will want to keep an eye on.
Publisher Hooded Horse and developer Limbic Entertainment have officially announced Corsair Cove, a pirate-themed city builder launching in 2026 for PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store. Crucially, it’s also confirmed to arrive day one on Xbox Game Pass for PC, meaning subscribers can jump in from launch without paying extra.
Set during the dying days of the Golden Age of Piracy, Corsair Cove challenges players to build and maintain a thriving pirate stronghold while the Crown tightens its grip on the seas.
You begin with almost nothing as its just the wreckage of your ship and a handful of survivors, You must then turn it into a fully functioning pirate haven. As enemy forces close in, your settlement becomes more than just a base. It’s the last stand for piracy itself.

Unlike traditional city builders, Corsair Cove focuses heavily on vertical construction. Instead of expanding across flat land, you’ll be building up cliffs, across hillsides, and over dangerous terrain.
This creates a completely different kind of challenge. It means your space is limited, routes are awkward, and every structure needs to be placed with purpose. It means that full use of your environment is key to survival and I suspect there will be some insane looking cities built due to this mechanic alone.
Your island evolves from a small camp into a sprawling pirate fortress filled with taverns, living quarters, production buildings, and defensive structures.
There are no strict building constraints from what the devs have mentioned and this allows you to expand in creative ways across uneven terrain. However, this freedom comes with added complexity especially when it comes to keeping everything connected and efficient.
Transporting goods becomes a core part of the experience as you have to utlise bridges, ziplines and other systems that are then needed to move resources across cliffs and gaps. A poorly planned layout can of course quickly lead to bottlenecks that threaten your entire settlement and its said to cause some very funny but disasterous moments.
The world also goes beyond your island though and it is just as important as what you build on it.
It means you can construct ships, assign captains, and send crews out to explore nearby islands in search of resources, treasure, and new opportunities. Some materials can only be obtained through exploration or raiding, making naval expeditions essential.

Combat is also said to play a key role in Corsair Cove. You will be facing off against enemy ships in tactical encounters, while defensive structures like gun towers help protect your island when your fleet is away.
As you expand, you’ll also encounter dynamic events, hidden locations, and even legendary threats lurking beneath the waves.
The big news which hasnt really been covered by any outlet on the web as of yet, is that this game will be launching into Xbox Game Pass on Day One. This is specifically an Xbox on PC only title for the time being as we usually see with Hooded Horse titles but its a great grab none the less.
Hopefully this means a console version is in the works but for now, you can expect the Xbox PC launch to lands some time in 2026!
