Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 Officially Announced for Xbox!

Co-op Xenomorph Action Returns This Summer

It is now official! Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 has been announced for both the Xbox Series X|S and its set to bring us another intense wave of co-op xenomorph combat later this summer.

After months of rumours and leaks, developer Cold Iron Studios has finally confirmed the sequel alongside publisher Daybreak Games with the game set to launch on Xbox. As a fan of the original game, I am beyond hyped for the sequel.

Bigger Co-Op Battles and Deadlier Xenomorphs

Like the original game, Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is going to focus heavily on squad-based third-person action but the sequel appears to be expanding the formula in several key ways.

This time around, players can jump into battle either solo or in full four-player co-op, increasing the team size compared to the original release. As Colonial Marines we will once again fight to survive against overwhelming xenomorph threats while coordinating abilities and adapting to increasingly dangerous situations.

According to the developers, teamwork will play a much larger role in the sequel with deeper co-op systems and more strategic gameplay elements built into every encounter.

Expanded Classes and Customisation

One of the biggest additions in Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 from what I have heard so far, is a redesigned progression and class system.

Cold Iron Studios says players can expect:

  • A fully customisable Specialist class
  • Improved class variety with more distinct playstyles
  • Expanded team-based mechanics
  • More flexibility in how squads are built

The goal appears to be giving players more control over their builds and encouraging stronger co-op synergy during missions.

New Weapons and More Aggressive Enemies

It’s not just the Marines receiving upgrades either. The xenomorphs themselves are said to be faster, more aggressive and more varied than before and they look genuinely terrifying.

In this new game, you have access to a larger arsenal of weapons and tools to survive, including:

  • Stun batons
  • Electric ammunition
  • Pyro rounds
  • Heavy firearms

Mobility and teamwork will reportedly be essential if players hope to survive the increasingly chaotic battles.

Should You Play the Original First?

Now, if you haven’t tried the first game yet now might be the perfect time to do so. Aliens: Fireteam Elite is currently available through Xbox Game Pass on all tiers bar essential and its a cracking good time.

With the sequel launching later this summer, jumping into the original is a great way to see what you will be facing and gives you more experience before diving into what is said to be a more complex sequel.
