Sword of the Sea Appears on Xbox Store, But Release Is Unconfirmed

Sword of the Sea has appeared on the Xbox Store, hinting that Giant Squid’s action-adventure game could be coming to Xbox. The developer has yet to officially announce an Xbox version, so the listing is currently the clearest sign of a possible release on Microsoft’s platform.

It is also worth noting that the listing has seemingly been taken down and no longer works even though the HTML is up and producing results. I have provided a screenshot of the page prior to this happening down below.

The game originally launched for PlayStation 5 and PC on 19 August 2025, through Steam and the Epic Games Store and it went on to get some very highly regarded reviews by Critics and Players alike. It also joined PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium on launch day, giving subscribers access without an additional purchase.

What Is Sword of the Sea?

Developed by Giant Squid, Sword of the Sea follows the Wraith as they travel across a desolate world on a magical Hoversword. Its movement takes inspiration from surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding, letting players glide across expansive landscapes while working to restore life to the environment.

Giant Squid was founded by creative director Matt Nava and is also known for ABZÛ and The Pathless. The studio’s games are recognised for their distinctive art direction, movement-focused gameplay and atmospheric soundtracks.
