Spike Chunsoft has officially confirmed that Danganronpa 2×2, the newest evolution of the cult-classic murder‑mystery series, will launch on Xbox Series X|S on January 14, 2027. The title arrives alongside versions for Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC, marking one of the franchise’s widest platform releases to date.
Danganronpa 2×2 revisits the tropical setting of Jabberwock Island, the backdrop of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. While the cast and location return, the narrative does not simply retell the original story. Instead, Spike Chunsoft describes the game as a “high-speed deductive action” experience featuring two fully playable scenarios.

Danganronpa 2×2 lets players experience Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair in two different modes. Players can choose between the revamped scenario in “Original” mode, which retells the story from the 2012 release with enhanced visuals and updated presentation for modern game systems, and “Slayhem” mode, which features a new scenario based on Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, but with a completely different storyline. Both options are available from the start of the game.
Pre-orders aren’t quite live for Xbox Series X/S as yet, but keep your eyes peeled close to launch in the new year.
