Xbox players can now try the upcoming Wreck Runners September Update early through a limited-time Xbox Insider playtest right now through their Xbox Consoles.
The test is completely free and available to everyone on both the Xbox Series X|S Consoles even if they don’t currently own Wreck Runners. You can also bring along as many as three friends, board the ORCA and experience an unreleased version of the game’s next major update which is promising some massive improvements.
However, there isn’t long left to take part as the Wreck Runners Xbox Insider playtest concludes on September 9th, so you have to be very quick!
The playtest offers an early look at several features currently being developed for the full September Update.
One of the biggest additions is Temples which is an entirely new location type that crews can explore while searching for valuable salvage. You can also encounter a dangerous new underwater enemy hunting you beneath the surface.
Other additions available during the test include:
- Temples to explore and salvage
- Runner colour customisation
- A new underwater enemy
- Paranormal Progression
- Trustwell Lost Salvage
- Additional environmental hazards
- Interface improvements
- Further gameplay changes
As this is an unfinished development build, the developers have stated that participants may encounter bugs, technical problems or content that changes before the September Update officially launches.
The test build also introduces support for 15 additional languages which was much requested by the community and these are the following:
- Arabic
- Brazilian Portuguese
- French
- German
- Italian
- Japanese
- Kazakh
- Korean
- Latin American Spanish
- Polish
- Russian
- Simplified Chinese
- Traditional Chinese
- Turkish
- Ukrainian
Disruptive Games is particularly interested in feedback from players using these new language options. Apparently they are looking to get reports and feedback from players to make sure those translations are correct and help make the game better.
As I mentioned, The Wreck Runners September Update playtest began on Friday September 4th and remains available until Wednesday September 9th.

End: September 9 at 10am PT / 5pm UTC
For UK players (Just like me), the test is scheduled to finish at 6pm BST on September 9th.
You can register for the free test directly through your Xbox Series X|S console:
- Open the Xbox Insider Hub on your console.
- Install the Xbox Insider Hub from the Microsoft Store if you don’t already have it.
- Navigate to Previews.
- Select Wreck Runners.
- Choose Join.
- Wait for your registration to complete.
- Open the Microsoft Store page when prompted.
- Install Wreck Runners Playtest.
Access may be subject to availability so it is worth registering as soon as possible if you want to take part before the test ends.
