Xbox Game Pass Could Drop Day One Games in 2027

Xbox Game Pass could stop offering day one games in 2027, according to a leak shared on ResetEra.

The rumor posted by ResetEra userSlayven, who has shared reliable information on Game Pass tier changes in the past, suggests Xbox could drop day one games from Game Pass in 2027 as part of a major change to the subscription service.

Alongside this, it’s suggested that the current Game Pass tiers could be replaced with new options, including an ad-supported tier for $12.99 per month as well as multiplayer and cloud gaming tiers.

The basic Game Pass tier could be reduced by $3 to reflect the removal of day one games, but reactions to this across socials have been less than positive so far.

Players Unhappy About Rumored Day One Games Removal

Senua is one of the day one games coming to Game Pass in 2027.

Players on Reddit expressed concerns about the loss of day one games on the subscription service, with many stating this was their main reason for subscribing. Others expressed support for the rumored plans, saying day one games were never sustainable for the service.

The rumor also claims that Game Pass could remove cloud streaming and make this a separate add-on at a cost of $5.99 for 25hours, as well as charging an additional $5.99 a month for Family Plans.

We’ve rounded up the rumored changes in at at-a-glance list for you below:

  • New games may not land as day one Game Pass releases.
  • This change could happen between February and April next year.
  • Cloud gaming may no longer be included with your Game Pass subscription
  • Cloud gaming could be a $5.99 add-on for 25 hours playtime.
  • Ad-free Game Pass subscription could cost $19.99 per month ($239.99 annually).
  • Ad-supported Game Pass subscription could cost $12.99 per month.
  • Online multiplayer could be $10.99 per month.
  • Family Plan add-on could be $5.99 per month.
  • The monthly cost of Game Pass could drop by $3 if day one games are removed.

Dozens of Game Pass Day One Releases Already Confirmed for 2027

Fable is one of the day one games coming to Xbox Game Pass in 2027.

To add credence to the rumor, insider NateTheHate confirmed that Slayven’s past Game Pass leaks have been reliable, though he could not confirm the latest information.

As with all leaks and rumors, we’d suggest taking this one with a (heavy) pinch of salt as there’s nothing from Xbox as yet to suggest it’s true. With dozens of titles already confirmed for a Game Pass day one release in 2027, including Fable, State of Decay 3, and Senua, we’ll have to wait and see whether there’s any truth in the rumor.
