RuneScape Dragonwilds Xbox Game Pass details have officially been announced with Jagex confirming that its open-world survival adventure will join the service when version 1.0 launches on the 15th of September 2026!
The open-world survival game is already available through Steam Early Access but its September release will mark the first time in RuneScape’s 25-year history that one of its games has launched on Xbox consoles.
RuneScape: Dragonwilds will be available across Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 with cross-platform multiplayer also confirmed.
Jagex announced the Xbox Game Pass news in a new press release, confirming that subscribers will be able to access the game alongside its full release later this year.
“Today, Jagex: The RuneScape Company, is excited to share that their breakout open-world survival crafting game, RuneScape: Dragonwilds will be available day one with Xbox Game Pass.”
Although Dragonwilds originally entered Steam Early Access in April 2025, its arrival on Xbox Game Pass is being treated as a day-one release to coincide with the launch of version 1.0.
Jagex says the game has already attracted more than one million players during its Early Access period, while its Steam reviews currently hold a “Very Positive” rating.
The specific Xbox Game Pass tiers have not yet been confirmed. However I do assume that this game will be available to both Ultimate & PC Subscribers with Premium following up in 6 – 12 months time.
Despite sharing the same universe, RuneScape: Dragonwilds is not a console adaptation of the long-running MMORPG.
Instead, it is a standalone open-world survival and crafting adventure set on Ashenfall and this is a forgotten continent where dragons have awoken. Players must gather resources, construct bases, craft equipment and develop their skills as they prepare to face the Dragon Queen, Kuldra the God Eater.
The adventure can be played alone or cooperatively with up to three other players. Full crossplay support will allow Xbox players to explore Ashenfall alongside friends using other supported platforms.
Magic also plays an important role throughout the experience. Players can use spells to cut down trees, destroy ore deposits, escape dangerous encounters and manipulate the surrounding world in unusual ways.
