After months of rumours and speculation online, Warhorse Studios has officially confirmed that it is developing a brand-new open-world The Lord of the Rings RPG alongside another project set within the Kingdom Come universe.
The announcement came through the studio’s official social media channels, finally putting an end to the ongoing reports that suggested the developer had secured the rights to work on a major Middle-earth project.
While details remain extremely limited for now, the reveal alone has already generated huge excitement among RPG and Lord of the Rings fans.
In its announcement, Warhorse Studios confirmed it is currently developing:
- A brand-new Kingdom Come project
- An open-world Lord of the Rings RPG set in Middle-earth
The studio did not provide gameplay footage, platforms, or release windows for either title, stating that more information will be revealed “when the time is right.”
One interesting detail is that Warhorse referred to the upcoming Kingdom Come title as a “new adventure” rather than directly calling it Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3. This has already sparked speculation that the project could potentially be a spin-off, smaller-scale RPG, or side story rather than a full sequel.
For many fans, the biggest excitement surrounding this announcement comes from the fact that Warhorse Studios has already proven itself capable of building highly immersive RPG worlds.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance and its sequel became well known for:
- Detailed open worlds
- Realistic systems
- Deep role-playing mechanics
- Strong environmental storytelling
- Immersive exploration
Because of that, an open-world Middle-earth RPG feels like a natural fit for the studio.
The thought of exploring forests, villages, castles and battlefields across Tolkien’s universe with Warhorse’s grounded RPG design has already captured the attention of fantasy RPG fans online.

This announcement could end up being one of the most exciting RPG reveals in recent years. Warhorse Studios has already demonstrated its ability to create rich and believable worlds, so the idea of the team bringing that experience to Middle-earth is incredibly promising.
While we still know very little about the project itself, anticipation for this new Lord of the Rings RPG is already building rapidly.
