Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era Heads to PC Game Pass in April

Another title has quietly joined April’s growing Game Pass lineup and this one should catch the attention of strategy fans.

Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era is officially launching into early access on April 30th, and it’ll be available day one through the Xbox PC app and PC Game Pass thanks to a collaboration between Ubisoft and Hooded Horse.

A Fresh Start for a Legendary Franchise

Rather than simply continuing the formula, Olden Era looks to reintroduce the series with a balance of classic gameplay and new ideas. It’s built to appeal to long-time players while still being approachable for newcomers discovering the franchise for the first time.

Early signs are encouraging too. The playable demo on Steam has already attracted thousands of players and currently sits at a “Mostly Positive” rating and it does suggest strong early interest in this revival.

Strategy, RPG Systems, and Big Battles

At its core, Olden Era sticks closely to what made the series popular:

  • Turn-based tactical combat
  • Deep empire management
  • RPG-style hero progression
  • Exploration across detailed fantasy maps

Players will be able to dive into a narrative-driven campaign or jump into custom scenarios featuring both handcrafted and procedurally generated maps. Building cities, commanding armies of mythical creatures, and managing resources will all play a central role.

There’s also support for solo play and online multiplayer, giving players multiple ways to experience the game.

Launching as a Game Preview Title

Since the game is releasing in early access, it will arrive as part of Xbox’s Game Preview program on PC. In simple terms, this means the game isn’t finished yet and stuff like features, balancing, and content may change as development continues.

For players, that also means the opportunity to jump in early and be part of that process.

Will It Come to Xbox Consoles?

Right now, a console version isn’t guaranteed. Developers have previously indicated that console support isn’t a priority at this stage, though it hasn’t been ruled out entirely. Controller support and a potential Xbox release could still happen further down the line.

A Promising Game Pass Addition

April is shaping up to be a strong month for Game Pass, and Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era adds something a little different to the mix. If you enjoy strategy games with depth and replayability, this is definitely one to keep an eye on.

It arrives on April 30th for PC Game Pass and the Xbox PC app!
